SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Performers of Korean traditional instruments played Jongmyo Jeryeak, a royal ancestral ritual music, at the Berliner Philharmonie in Berlin, a home to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, on Monday (local time).
As part of Musikfest Berlin, 86 members of the National Gugak Center performed the royal ancestral music and dance used in the rituals at the royal ancestral shrine of the Joseon dynasty.
Throughout the concert, English and German subtitles appeared on an LED screen to provide commentary on the history and the aesthetics of the royal ancestral music to the German audience.
The performance was broadcasted live through the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s Digital Concert Hall, an online broadcasting platform.
It is the first time for Asian performers to be broadcasted worldwide through the DCH.
