SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Many South Koreans are planning to spend more than half of their Lunar New Year holiday at hotels this year.
Accommodation booking app Good Choice analyzed reservation data for hotel stays between Jan. 28 and Feb. 2, which showed that the number of reservations for longer than two days jumped by a factor of 11 compared to last year’s Lunar New Year holiday.
Over the same period, the number of hotel reservations was 8.3 times higher than last year. Customers booked their hotel stays an average of 34.6 days in advance.
“More consumers are planning to stay longer at hotels this holiday,” Good Choice said. “This indicates higher demand for people to enjoy their holidays in smaller groups, rather than have large family gatherings.”
In response, the hotel industry is releasing a variety of accommodation plans to cater to rising demand.
