SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — It appears that 6 out of 10 Koreans consider that they are overweight.
According to ‘The Global Consumer Recognition Report Related to Health and Wellbeing’ presented by Nielson Korea, an information analysis firm, on January 22, 60% of the 506 Korean respondents answered that they are overweight. This is a figure that is over 10% higher than the world average of 49%.
This investigation was carried out to find out the factors that influence health-related eating habits and food purchases for over 30,000 people from 60 countries in the world, including South Korea.
Looking at different global regions, North America had the most consumers who thought that they were overweight at 59%, compared to South America at 54%, Europe at 52%, the Middle East and Africa at 50%, and 43% for Asia-Pacific region, which was the smallest.
Also, the ratio of the responses for individuals who are currently dieting or in some way attempting to lose weight was the highest in South America at 56%, compared to 50% in North America, and 52% in the Middle East and Africa. The diet ratio of consumers in the Asia-Pacific region was 49%, which was higher than the 47% of the European region. For Koreans, 55% of the total respondents indicated that they were attempting to lose weight.
