SEOUL, March 16 (Korea Bizwire)Leaders of South Korea’s major business groups and economic organizations will accompany President Moon Jae-in on his visit to Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next week to further strengthen economic cooperation, industry sources said Friday.

Moon will visit Vietnam and the UAE between March 22 and 27 to expand cooperation in economics and win backing for ongoing efforts to get North Korea to denuclearize and give up its long-range missile development.

Vice Chairman Yoon Boo-keun of Samsung Electronics Co. will be part of the economic delegation traveling to Vietnam together with Moon, the sources said, noting Samsung Electronics has a factory in the Southeast Asian country that produces about half of the smartphones for the world’s largest handset maker.

Among others who will accompany the chief executive are Hyundai Motor Group President Chung Jin-haeng, SK Innovation CEO and President Kim Jun, and LG Chem Vice Chairman and CEO Park Jin-soo.

Heads of several major construction companies will also likely join Moon to travel to the UAE as the South Korean government is pushing ahead with plans to secure energy infrastructure construction orders from the Middle Eastern country.

Also to be included in the delegation are Kim Young-joo, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), and Park Yong-man, president of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), according to the sources.

KITA and the KCCI plan to organize a series of business forums and other events in Vietnam and the UAE while Moon is staying there.
