SEOUL, May 24 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Display Co., a major South Korean display maker, has announced its intention to establish an independent task force to develop countermeasures and address the situation following the recent death of one of its employees.
Jeong Ho-young, president and CEO of LG Display, on Tuesday sent an email to employees stating that he would request the formation of an independent task force led by outside directors, according to industry sources.
He further expressed his intention to fully delegate the process of diagnosing the internal situation, identifying problems, and formulating fundamental solutions to the task force.
This decision was prompted by the discovery of the body of a team leader-level employee near the Han River in Seoul’s western district.
Within the company’s online community, speculation emerged that the employee’s death was the result of excessive work burden leading to suicide.
In the email, Jeong assured employees that he would not interfere with the task force’s investigation and would transparently share the investigation’s findings.
Simultaneously, the police are investigating the cause of the man’s death, including the possibility of accidental circumstances such as slipping.
