SEOUL, April 4 (Korea Bizwire)LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday it delivered clothes along with other donations to veterans of the Korean War in Ethiopia in line with its charity projects in Africa.

Under the project, the South Korean consumer electronics giant delivered warm jackets to 186 Ethiopian veterans in the capital city of Addis Ababa. The company said the decision came as the African city lacks heating facilities despite its huge fluctuations in daily temperatures.

LG Electronics employees visited homes of veterans to deliver the gifts, the company said.

The two Koreas technically remain at war, as the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice and not a peace treaty. Ethiopia sent more than 3,500 soldiers, and around 650 of them were killed or wounded in action.

The company also plans to donate US$40,000 to a hospital located in Nairobi, Keyna, money which will be used to provide prosthetic arms and legs to victims of terrorism.

LG Electronics first started the project in Kenya in 2006 and has handed out prosthetic arms and legs to 875 victims so far.

The company said it plans to continue to carry out various charity projects in Africa going forward.
