LG Electronics, No.1 Seller of Dehumidifiers in the World

SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – Sales of dehumidifiers are increasing as the summer heat is accompanied by humidity.

According to LG Electronics, sales of dehumidifiers during the last week of July almost doubled compared to the same period last year. Officials say that the high humidity and escalated temperatures caused by the monsoon heading north were the reasons for this increase.

LG launched the largest inverter dehumidifiers in the domestic market, the ‘LG Whisen Inverter Dehumidifier’ and the ‘LG Whisen Air Purifier-Dehumidifier’.

Observing the soaring sales, LG Electronics appears to be the No.1 company in the global dehumidifier market.

Among the 5.4 million dehumidifiers sold around the world, 1.4 million were made by LG. According to Euro Monitor, a market research institution, LG has been the leading dehumidifier company for the past eight years.

LG is now expanding their market in hot and humid countries such as China and Hong Kong.

LG also emphasizes that dehumidifiers are not only used in the summer, but can also be used throughout the year. “In spring, many households dry their laundry indoors, and in autumn, taking out the moisture that settles in clothes and blankets during the summer is important, thus making a dehumidifier very useful. Also, dehumidifiers can prevent windows from fogging during the winter.”
