SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s No. 2 smartphone maker LG Electronics Monday it has launched a new flip smartphone amid the rising popularity of budget models among senior customers. The LG Wine Smart Jazz is an upgrade from the LG Wine Smart released in September last year, which was the first flip smartphone to be released by the South Korean firm. The latest smartphone features a 3.2-inch display, a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1,700 mAh battery.
The company said its flip products have been gaining popularity in the market as senior consumers preferred actual buttons over touch screens. More consumers have also been attracted to budget models that come with only key features, instead of unnecessary state-of-the-art technologies, industry watchers said. The price tag on the LG Wine Smart Jazz stands at 242,000 won (US$208.2). LG said it will continue efforts to roll out other smartphones to meet different needs of various age groups.
