SEOUL, Mar. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Uplus has announced that its ‘Uth Youth Plan’ advertisement, the first in the industry to be crafted using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content, has been awarded in the digital category at the 2024 Consumers’ Choice Best Ad awards.

This innovative ad utilized LG Uplus’s proprietary AI technology, ‘ixi’, which was instrumental in developing the scenario, imagery, voice, and video components of the campaign.

Featuring actress Joo Hyun-young as a marketer eager for an early finish, the commercial humorously depicts the delegation of ad creation to AI. This approach resonated with audiences, amassing over 12 million views on YouTube, demonstrating the compelling appeal of integrating AI in advertising narratives.

Following the success of the ‘Uth Youth Plan’ campaign, LG Uplus expanded the use of ixi in other projects, including advertisements for lifecycle plans, the iPhone 15, and the Galaxy S24.

The company highlighted that, compared to traditional ad production methods, utilizing AI technology significantly reduced costs by a quarter and shortened production times by two-thirds.

Established in 1993 and now in its 32nd year, the Consumers’ Choice Best Ad awards stand out as the only advertising accolade in South Korea where consumers directly participate in the judging process.

The awards are jointly organized by the Korea Advertisers Association and the Korea Consumer Association, celebrating advertisements that excel in creativity and effectively engage with the audience.
