SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean IT giant Kakao has announced the signing of a business agreement with Lotte to develop new artificial intelligence services, including a mobile kiosk that will allow customers to place orders at restaurants and coffeehouses without having to line up.
Kakao and Lotte Data Communication Company, retail giant Lotte’s IT-affiliate, signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday that will see the two companies cooperate with each other to develop AI technology-based customer services.
Among the new AI-powered services to be developed is a mobile kiosk, which will be adopted at Lotte Group’s fast food and coffeehouse chains including Lotteria and Angel-in-us Coffee.
By allowing customers to make orders with a voice-recognition chatbot just like how they speak to staff members, the new technology is expected to disperse long lines at stores.
For instance, saying “Get me one bulgogi burger,” will be returned with further questions such as, “Do you want a set menu?”
More complicated orders like “Two bulgogi burgers, one with a coke and the other with a lemonade, and both with fries,” will also be understood.
