SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s major department store chains are actively adding more luxury brand shops specializing in men’s wear, women’s wear and shoes amid higher demand for luxury goods.
Galleria Department Store, for instance, recently opened a Dior shoe shop at its Luxury Hall in southern Seoul, while Shinsegae Department Store opened a Dior shop at its Gangnam outlet.
Hyundai Department Store’s Pangyo outlet will open a Dior men’s wear shop, while Lotte Department Store’s main outlet will open a Dior women’s wear shop.
Lotte Department Store’s main outlet currently operates a total of 32 shops specializing in foreign men’s wear fashions, including a Dior men’s wear shop that opened early this year.
“Local department stores are expanding the number of luxury brand shops to better cope with higher consumer demand for luxury brands, as well as to showcase a wider variety of products,” an industry official said.
“Before opening luxury brand shops, they often check customer preferences by opening luxury brand pop-up stores.”
