SEOUL, Nov. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — A recent survey has revealed that 8 out of 10 food delivery app users have had the experience of ordering more than they need to meet the minimum order amount.
According to a survey conducted by the Consumers Union of Korea of 500 adult consumers living in metropolitan areas, 76.8 percent of the respondents said that their use of food delivery apps has increased since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, 82.8 percent of the respondents said that they had the experience of ordering more than they need to meet the minimum order amount.
Another 82 percent of the respondents pointed out that food delivery apps need to clarify who bears the delivery cost.
At 53.6 percent, a bit more than half of the respondents said that they experienced some inconvenience when they used food delivery apps. Among them, 70.1 percent said the inconvenience was caused by delays in delivery.
More than 90 percent of respondents said that they check reviews and ratings when using food delivery apps. Among them, however, only 68.6 percent said that they trust reviews and ratings.
Another three quarters of the respondents said that they were willing to use public delivery apps developed by municipal governments.
In response to a question asking why they were willing to use the public delivery apps, 57.3 percent said that it was necessary to prevent the negative impacts of monopoly power that some delivery apps have.
