SEOUL, June 16 (Korea Bizwire) — Following a string of controversies over the poor quality of military meals for service members who are quarantined for prevention of COVID-19 after returning from leave, a Marine Corps soldier has once again highlighted the issue.
On Monday, a soldier who was placed in a quarantine facility of Marine Corps’ 1st Division took photos of dinner meals and posted comments related to the poor quality of the food on an Army Boot Camp Facebook page, an account that serves as an anonymous bulletin board for service members.
In the photo, the meal consisted of rice, chicken salad, onions pickled in soy sauce, kimchi and pork and kimchi stew.
The quarantined soldier insisted that there was no pork in the pork stew and no chicken in the chicken salad.
“Military meals are poor even under ordinary circumstances, and soldiers tend to eat ramen instead.” he added.
In response, the Marine Corps checked the dinner menu at quarantine facilities and confirmed that there was a lack of effort in preparing the meals at some military units.
