SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Movements are stirring in South Korea in protest to the recent coup d’etat in Myanmar.
The Burmese Youth Association in South Korea held press conferences in five locations across Seoul on Sunday, including the Myanmarese Embassy and downtown, calling upon the Myanmar’s military authorities to abort the coup and release Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other officials of the civilian government immediately.
“Civil disobedience will continue until the civilian government is restored,” said the participants. “We ask South Korea to join our cause.”
After what began with a one-man protest, Myanmarese in South Korea have been carrying out the rally for five consecutive days.
Members of MyaBiz, an online South Korean forum on Myanmar, took to the streets in front of the Myanmarese Embassy last Friday in protest of the military coup.
