SEOUL, May 22 (Korea Bizwire) — Hotels in Seoul’s downtown shopping mecca of Myeongdong are experiencing a surge in occupancy rates as tourists from Southeast Asia, Japan, Europe and other regions flock to this famous tourist destination.
In April, Nine Tree Hotel Myeongdong and Nine Tree Premier Hotel Myeongdong II, both managed by Parnas Hotel, achieved occupancy rates exceeding 90 percent.
Between January and April of this year, foreigners accounted for 80 percent of the guests at these two hotels, a figure more than six times higher than the previous year.
L7 Myeongdong and Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong also boasted occupancy rates of over 90 percent in April.
Both L7 Myeongdong (95 percent) and Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong (90 percent) had a significant proportion of foreign guests.
The Four Points by Sheraton Myeongdong, operated by Josun Hotels & Resorts, reached a 90 percent occupancy rate in April, with foreigners booking 90 percent of the rooms.
Le Méridien & Moxy Seoul Myeongdong, which opened in November last year, reported an 80 percent occupancy rate for April, with 85 percent of customers being foreigners.
