SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — A North Korean YouTuber is offering a peek into the daily life of Pyongyang residents.
The YouTube channel Olivia Natasha – YuMi Space DPRK Daily offers video updates on daily life in North Korea. DPRK stands for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The channel, which launched in June last year, has updated a total of ten videos up to now. As of Tuesday, it had about 2,000 subscribers.
In a video updated on Jan. 14, a woman who identified herself as Yu Mi living in Pyongyang, had a personal training session at a gym.
Other videos showcase visits to beverage and ice cream shops, and fun on rides at an amusement park.
Through the videos, Yu Mi introduced her hobbies and daily life in English, saying that Pyongyang is a good place to live and is a comfortable and developed city.
However, it was pointed out that the scenes Yu Mi showed off through her videos are different from the actual life of ordinary citizens in North Korea.
Most of the places she introduced were amusement facilities that can be enjoyed only by a handful of elite people in North Korea.
