Natural Monument Pine Tree Damaged in Typhoon

ANDONG, Aug. 11 (Korea BIzwire)A natural monument pine tree, designated as such, partially collapsed due to the strong winds accompanying the arrival of Typhoon Khanun.

The Gyeongbuk Fire Service Headquarters on Thursday received a report regarding the partial collapse of the Multi-stem Pine located in Dokdong-ri, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.

The pine tree is estimated to have an age of some 400 years.

With a height of 13.1 meters and a diameter measuring 4.05 meters, it stands as one of the largest and oldest pine trees in South Korea.

To be specific, this tree is a multi-stem pine, diverging into various branches from its trunk, thus presenting an umbrella-like stature.
