ANDONG, Aug. 11 (Korea BIzwire) — A natural monument pine tree, designated as such, partially collapsed due to the strong winds accompanying the arrival of Typhoon Khanun.
The Gyeongbuk Fire Service Headquarters on Thursday received a report regarding the partial collapse of the Multi-stem Pine located in Dokdong-ri, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.
The pine tree is estimated to have an age of some 400 years.
With a height of 13.1 meters and a diameter measuring 4.05 meters, it stands as one of the largest and oldest pine trees in South Korea.
To be specific, this tree is a multi-stem pine, diverging into various branches from its trunk, thus presenting an umbrella-like stature.
