SEOUL, July 7 (Korea Bizwire)Recent data projects that the number of golfers per golf course in South Korea will decrease by 2026.

According to a white paper published by the Korea Leisure Industry Institute, the number of golfers per golf course is expected to decline by 22.1 percent by 2026 at golf courses in Busan, Ulsan and North Gyeongsang Province.

The number of golf courses in these regions is expected to increase from 63 courses (based on 18 holes) in late 2021 to 78.5 in 2026. Golf courses in these regions can operate throughout the year and have good profitability thanks to an abundant population of golfers.

The nation’s ratio of golfers per golf course is expected to fall to 65,200 in 2026, down 10.7 percent from 2021.

However, the decline in the number of golfers per golf course in metropolitan areas will remain relatively low at 3.8 percent by 2026, indicating that the difficulty in booking golf courses is likely to remain unchanged.
