SEOUL, Oct 21 (Korea Bizwire) – LINE, an instant messaging app owned by South Korea’s Naver, reached a meaningful milestone in India, securing 30 million registered users there, up 20 million such users in just one year.
Naver’s LINE, which was released in June last year, is competing against formidable rivals, such as WhatsApp which is the dominant messaging app with its 60 million active users in the market. LINE has 600 million registered users across the globe with its active users marking 170 million today.
LINE staged aggressive marketing campaigns in India last year with big-budget ads featuring a popular local actress throughout the broadcasting platforms, along with targeted approaches like language localization campaigns for the app.
