SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — NCSOFT Corp., a major South Korean online and mobile game developer, said Wednesday it has joined hands with Japan-based console game developer Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) to expand its global business.
NCSOFT CEO Kim Taek-jin and SIE CEO Jim Ryan signed a strategic partnership to strengthen cooperation in the two companies’ global business, including mobile games, according to the South Korean company.
Under the partnership, the two companies will discuss measures to foster strategic synergy, leveraging NCSOFT’s technological prowess and SIE’s global leadership in the entertainment field.
“This partnership with SIE is the beginning of our efforts to build various synergies together, utilizing both companies’ core competencies, technological capabilities and expertise,” Kim said.
“Partnering with NCSOFT advances our strategy to expand beyond consoles and broaden PlayStation’s reach to a wider audience,” Ryan said.
NCSOFT plans to launch its new massively multiplayer online role-playing game, “Throne and Liberty,” for computers next month.
