SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korean dining industry is increasingly adopting the ‘shop-in-shop’ concept, offering a win-win strategy that attracts attention. This approach allows businesses to enhance brand recognition through specialized stores while providing customers the convenience of exploring a variety of items in one location.
According to industry reports from January 8, Lotte GRS’s coffee franchise Angel-in-us is expanding its shop-in-shop stores, selling products from famous local bakeries. Since remodeling its Songpa Seokchon Lake DI branch into a bakery-themed store in June 2021, Angel-in-us has increased such specialized outlets to a total of 32.
Customer response to these bakery-themed shops has been overwhelmingly positive, with the Seokchon Lake DI branch experiencing a 70% increase in monthly sales post-renovation and the Suyu Station branch reporting a 50% increase in sales.
Mom’s Touch is also opening ‘strategic stores’ in bustling areas like Gangnam, Myeong-dong, and Dongdaemun, frequented by tourists and locals alike. This move aims to increase customer engagement and brand promotion, stepping away from its previous image as a ‘neighborhood brand.’
These larger stores will offer a diverse menu, including regular items like the Cyber Burger and Grilled Beef Burger, along with Mom’s Pizza options.
Mom’s Touch opened its first strategic store in October last year near Hakdong Station in Gangnam District, followed by successive launches at its Daechi Intersection, Bangbae Station, and Dosan-daero stores.
Some franchise businesses have adopted a different strategy, creating smaller stores to fit within other shops.
In July 2022, A Twosome Place, in collaboration with LG Electronics, opened its first partnership store at Omokgyo Station in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu. Located inside an LG Best Shop, this store integrates LG electronics products like TVs and refrigerators, offering a unique experience for customers.
A spokesperson for A Twosome Place noted the long-term perspective on customer response to these collaborative stores, expressing plans to consider expanding the shop-in-shop concept to provide diverse experiences to customers.
