DAEJEON, Nov. 27 (Korea Bizwire)A South Korean research team has developed new technology that helps people enjoy virtual reality (VR) content without feeling nausea and dizziness.

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced on Thursday that it succeeded in developing a new software technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the degree of VR nausea.

ETRI used machine learning to analyze test data from 500 subjects and drew a correlation between VR factors and nausea.

This technology titled ‘VR Human Factor-based VR Nausea Analysis and Monitoring Tool’ can analyze the type of nausea, which differs from person to person, through the observation of biomarker patterns.

The research team also developed another technology titled ‘Content Creation Tool for Reduction of VR Nausea’ that enables the reduction of nausea through real-time adjustment of VR factors during the content production process.

Without the need for manual work, the content can be adjusted from level 1 to 5 on the basis of quantitative criteria.
