SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Korea Bizwire)As travelers’ tastes and preferences tend to be particular, domestic travel trends are also forecasted to grow stronger next year.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization analyzed 1.6 million posts on social media, including Facebook and Instagram, and selected R.E.F.O.R.M. as the 2020 domestic travel trend of Koreans.

R.E.F.O.R.M. is a combination of the initials of the keywords predicted by the travel patterns for next year.

According to the analysis, the number of “Regional Creators” who will discover and introduce local tourist attractions is expected to increase significantly next year.

This is due to the increase in references on YouTube for travel in Korea, with the number of mentions in the first three quarters of this year increasing 72 percent on-year.

In addition, as user experiences, information sharing services, and mobile map services are activated, consumers are expected to strengthen their trend of evaluating food while they enjoy it, leading to the trend of ‘Enjoy & Critique’ Food.

It is also expected that more and more people will seek “Find My Trip” as their tastes become more distinct.

Meanwhile, the common view among authors of the report is that the move to visit less crowded places and enjoy a pleasant trip will also increase, which led to a surge in interest for ‘Other Destinations’.

Based on information technology infrastructure and high smartphone penetration, ‘Redesign With Technology’ is also expected to be strengthened.

Lastly, as the number of trips on the first day of this year increased 23.6 percent year-on-year, the number of short trips is expected to continue to increase next year, boosting the ‘Make Trips Nearby’ trend.
