SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries on Friday kick-started the operation of the Dokdo General Information System, which provides real-time images of South Korea’s easternmost Dokdo islets.
This system provides real-time Dokdo video on a daily basis, enabling anyone to watch the changing images of the islets anytime and anywhere in real time.
This system also allows people to check the weather conditions at the islets before making visits.
The islets are 87.4 kilometers away from Ulleung Island, and are typically accessed by ship.
In the past, Dokdo visitors sometimes had to either turn back or make only a brief stay on the islets depending on weather conditions.
The real-time Dokdo video can also been seen through the website of the Ulleung County office.
