BUSAN, Sept. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – Celebrating the coming of Thursday’s World Car Free Day, special “Car-Free Street” performances were arranged at Busan’s Sujeong Market in Dong District.

Organized to raise environmental awareness, a flipped-over vehicle was displayed at the  market’s main intersection, while a giant balloon model of Earth was also displayed, to which participants attached disposable plastic cups.

World Car Free Day is celebrated in cities around the world every September 22. According to the Washington Post, the event “promotes improvement of mass transit, cycling and walking, and the development of communities where jobs are closer to home and where shopping is within walking distance.”
