SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Korea Bizwire) – Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in body paint took to the streets of Seoul on Thursday to protest Canada Goose jackets.
A number of naked PETA activists including Ashley Fruno from Canada braced the cold weather in body paint in Myeongdong, the heart of the South Korean capital, while holding a sign that read both in English and Korean, “Be A Champion For Animals: Ditch Down.’
Three protestors wore gold, silver, and bronze body paint, in response to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics that kick off in South Korea today.
The protest continued for up to 20 minutes as temperatures dropped to minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, as surprised onlookers turned around, with some taking pictures.
In a previous press release, PETA said geese face cruel treatment during the making of Canada Goose jackets, as they are crammed into cages and hung upside down with their heads cut off, urging people to refrain from wearing the jackets.
Fruno, who staged the protest to raise awareness of animal rights and animal cruelty, said bracing the extreme cold weather was nothing compared to the pain experienced by animals.
