SEOUL, Jul. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Koreans will be able to access phone translators for 6 different languages when they need to communicate with locals in foreign countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on July 2 that the current phone translating service for 3 languages, English, Chinese and Japanese, will be expanded to offer service in Russian, Spanish and French starting from July 15.
Whenever Koreans meet urgent matters and are faced with a language barrier, a call to the Korean Consul Call Center (+822-3210-0404) will connect them with translators.
The Korean Consul Call Center, which provides 24 hour phone consultation to Koreans who happen to have trouble abroad, will also start a country-specific safety alarm service through SMS in September.
The call center recently moved from Seocho District to a larger office in Jung District that is more suitable for hosting the newly introduced services.
The ministry has recently fortified its mobile service by launching applications which can be used to identify Korean embassies abroad, response manuals for emergency situations and emergency call numbers.
