SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) – With the relaxation of coronavirus (COVID-19) distancing measures, previously obsolete plastic screens have found a new purpose as emergency kit bags for children.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, a division of the Ministry of Employment, Labor, and Welfare, revealed on Tuesday that it repurposed plastic screens originally used in corporate conference rooms and cafeterias during the pandemic. The screens were transformed into emergency kit bags and distributed to 150 vulnerable children in Ulsan.
The emergency kits include essential medical supplies for children, such as bandages and emergency blankets, aligning with the input of school officials.
In exploring ways to repurpose waste plastic screening, the agency opted to create emergency kit items to enhance children’s safety. An Ulsan-based social enterprise undertook the collection of waste screening and converted it into emergency kit bags through a shredding and injection process.
