CHANGWON, Jan. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – Police have arrested individuals responsible for setting up an unregistered pharmacy inside a residential apartment and selling drugs illegally.

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency arrested a 20-year-old Thai national for the illegal distribution and sale of drugs online and indicted 12 others including a pharmacist responsible for supplying the drugs.

The Thai national set up an undocumented pharmacy in a residential apartment complex located in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province in April 2021 and sold drugs illegally to foreigners residing in the country through social media until July of last year.

The illegal pharmacy sold drugs at prices 10 to 15 percent more expensive than market prices, targeting undocumented foreigners and those struggling with a language barrier.

The individuals collected 100 types of drugs including those that require a doctor’s prescription from other pharmacies and brokers after which they put up advertisements on blogs and social media to send drugs via parcels to foreign clients who wired the payment.
