BUSAN, Dec. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Busan residents are posting pictures of themselves voluntarily picking up neighborhood trash as part of the trashtag challenge that has become popular on social media.
Trashtag, combining the terms trash and tag, is an online campaign encouraging netizens to post pictures of their neighborhood before and after the voluntary clean-up.
Busan’s Geumjeong District opened up an online community website in May to gather participants for the challenge.
The challenge has garnered much success as garbage dumping within the district has decreased, and participants competed over posting pictures.
A total of 832 participants joined the challenge last month, among whom more than 160 people participated in a voluntary clean-up.
