HONGSEONG, Jan. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — The government of South Chungcheong Province held a final briefing regarding strategies for so-called ‘smart city’ projects on Tuesday.
The province is pushing to establish a welfare city for elders, digital underdogs.
The smart city will utilize IoT and ICT to solve regional problems related to the environment, industry, farming and fishing villages and enhance the city’s competitiveness and quality of life for residents.
The project to develop a smart city is divided into four sectors: solving regional problems, theme-based modeling, the digital divide, and fostering resident participation.
First of all, in order to solve regional problems, the government has come up with strategies in each sector, such as smart businesses, smart environment, smart culture and welfare, smart living and smart farming and fishing villages.
Specifically, a Smart Environment Governance system will be established to collect data regarding fine dust and odors to reduce environmental problems.
In the culture sector, the city will introduce a Smart Butler system to help guide elders with digital technology.
As a strategy for building a leading model, the government proposed a Smart Heritage Belt, Smart Farm Innovation Valley and Smart Platform for Shared Welfare.
The Smart Heritage Belt is a technology that allows visitors to view Baekje cultural heritages through the integration of cultural and IoT technologies.
Furthermore, the Smart Platform for Shared Welfare is a system that combines Social Overhead Capital with health care centers to provide cultural, welfare, and sports facilities for residents.
Lastly, the city is planning to establish a care system for local communities and implement smart cities for resident participation by connecting elderly living together with parents working together.
