SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Foreign Minister Park Jin held talks with his British counterpart to discuss growing North Korean threats and ways to boost their bilateral relations, Seoul’s foreign ministry said Thursday.
In the breakfast meeting held in London on Tuesday (local time), Park and Foreign Secretary David Cameron voiced concerns over North Korea’s continued nuclear and missile provocations and denounced its arms trade with Russia as a violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen “strategic communication” in areas of regional security, advanced technology and development and to step up cooperation in the international forums, including in the Group of Seven (G7), the G20, and the United Nations Security Council.
Park is currently accompanying President Yoon Suk Yeol on his state visit to Britain this week.
Earlier this week, North Korea claimed it has successfully put a military spy satellite into orbit and vowed to launch several more satellites within a short span of time to better monitor South Korea.
The launch came amid suspicion that Russia may have provided technical assistance for the North’s spy satellite in return for Pyongyang’s supply of artillery and munitions for use in its war in Ukraine.
