SEOUL, Feb. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean food delivery app users order food at least five times a month on average, according to recent data.
Woowa Brothers Corp., operator of the country’s top food delivery app Baedal Minjok, reported that each user ordered food from 35 stores on average last year.
The proportion of food deliveries during lunchtime jumped from 20.6 percent in January to 23.2 percent in October. Nighttime deliveries also increased in proportion from 26.6 percent in January to 28.8 percent in October.
At 95.2 percent, the vast majority of all users used ‘instant pay’ to pay for their food. Food orders for take-out jumped from 3.5 percent in January to 12.6 percent in September.
“In 2019, dishes from the top 100 bestseller chart accounted for 31.9 percent of all orders. Now, the proportion has gone down to 27.4 percent,” said Woowa Brothers.
“It is likely that the greater variety of food now available on the app has dispersed customer preferences and choice for food.”
