SEOUL, June 5 (Korea Bizwire) — While oversea travel has become all but impossible due to the coronavirus, South Korean’s top choice of travel destination when the pandemic ends is Southeast Asia.
TMON Inc., one of South Korea’s major e-commerce operators, conducted a survey of 946 customers, 60.5 percent of whom picked Southeast Asia as their preferred travel destination.
Others included the Australia and Oceania region (14.9 percent), Europe (10.7 percent), and the United States and Canada (6.7 percent).
When asked about the appropriate time to travel, 50.9 percent responded ‘when the vaccine for coronavirus is released’. Others said ‘in the latter half of next year’ (16 percent), ‘in the early half of next year’ (15.2 percent), and ‘this December’ (10.6 percent).
Roughly half of the respondents said they didn’t have any plans for summer vacation due to the coronavirus. As for why, 49.5 percent were worried about ‘possible infection without any available vaccine’.
