SEOUL, Sept. 8 (Korea Bizwire)A new form of inspection that will minimize person-to-person contact will replace regular gas safety checks starting next year.

The Korea Gas Safety Corp. (KGS) announced on Monday that it is introducing the KGS Smart Inspection System, which uses a portable inspection device to carry out gas safety checks through so-called ‘untact’ means.

This system is being introduced to minimize physical contact during inspections and to increase the efficiency of untact safety checks as the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage on.

The system will begin operation next March after the KGS sets up infrastructure, develops apps, and conducts pilot tests.

Once the system is in place, portable inspection devices will be made available to access the previous year’s inspection results for each facility.

In addition, agents will be able to check changes in technical standards, raising the overall speed and quality of safety checks.
