SEOUL, July 28 (Korea Bizwire) — An increasing number of South Korean men are buying shorts to help cope with the summer heat, as they are both staying at home and working long hours there following the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
Samsung C&T Corp.’s contemporary fashion brand ‘Theory’ reported an 86 percent increase in sales of shorts for men between July 1 and 25 compared to the same period last year.
Dutch male fashion brand ‘Suitsupply’ and LF’s ‘Hazzys for Men’ also saw sales of shorts jump by about 20 percent.
Online shopping mall Gmarket reported a 13 percent increase in men’s shorts sales between June 26 and July 26 compared to last year.
“Shorts are gaining popularity this summer as more companies are allowing employees to wear them at work and with many employees working from home,” said LF.
