SEOUL, Mar. 28 (Korea Bizwire) –In an effort to reimagine home electronics as part of interior design, Samsung Electronics has introduced a speaker that doubles as a framed art display, blurring the line between audio equipment and decorative home accents.
The product, called the Music Frame, looks every bit like a standard picture frame when hung on a wall or placed on a surface. But contained within its slim profile is a powerful speaker system that can stream music wirelessly or connect to a television for an immersive home theater experience.
At a briefing for journalists in central Seoul, Samsung executives unveiled the Music Frame and explained the philosophy behind its unconventional design concept.
With its ability to display customized artwork or photographs through a detachable front panel, the speaker aims to seamlessly blend audio technology into home interior aesthetics.
“Our consumer research showed that 47 percent of speaker users cited design clashing with home decor as their biggest grievance,” said Choi Shin-hye, a senior manager at Samsung. “Design is an increasingly crucial factor after audio quality when it comes to purchasing speakers.”
Despite its discreet, decor-friendly appearance, the Music Frame packs impressive acoustics. It delivers 120 watts of output through a three-channel speaker array with tweeters, midrange drivers and a subwoofer, producing balanced sound across the full frequency range.
The speaker units are hidden behind a 9-millimeter gap that rings the frame, allowing audio to emanate from any position with uniform dispersion.
During the demonstration, music playback filled the room with distinct highs and lows, suggesting the Music Frame could serve adequately as both an interior accent and a speaker even in small commercial spaces like cafes.
Beyond its visual subtlety, the Music Frame offers the latest audio capabilities. It supports wireless Bluetooth and Wi-Fi streaming, one-tap smartphone mirroring and built-in artificial intelligence that analyzes room characteristics to optimize sound output.
The speaker can also connect wirelessly to Samsung TVs and soundbars for an enhanced home theater setup.
With the Music Frame, Samsung is positioning the speaker as a new product category alongside its TV and soundbar lineups, aiming to meet diverse consumer needs through innovative designs catering to modern lifestyles and home environments.
“By actively embracing consumer feedback that prioritizes design for audio products, we are proud to introduce the Music Frame, which elegantly marries sophisticated aesthetics with premium sound quality,” said Yong Seok-woo, the president of Samsung’s visual display business.
“We will continue to lead the market with breakthrough products that fulfill consumers’ diverse demands.”
