SEOUL, Aug. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — The most affordable location for consumers to purchase Samsung Electronics Co.’s latest smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, is in the devices’ home turf — South Korea.
According to industry sources, the consumer benefit price starts at 547,000 won (US$409) when users trade in their previous Galaxy Z Flip 4 models and acquire the Galaxy Z Flip 5 256 GB model off-contract on Samsung.com.
In the U.S., the price is $400 excluding value-added tax when consumers trade in their Galaxy Z Flip 4 devices and purchase the Galaxy Z Flip 5 256GB model off-contract.
If consumers follow the same approach in Germany, the consumer benefit price is about 820,000 won ($614), which is more expensive than in South Korea.
Compared to major countries around the world, including Europe, Australia and India, the domestic price is lower.
“Samsung has underscored the importance of its home market and conducted a Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul,” an industry official said.
“It appears that the company has also taken the pricing policy into account for domestic consumers.”
