SEOUL, Oct. 11 (Korea Bizwire)Controversy sparked after newly recruited employees sought to sell gifts from their employers at a secondhand transactions platform.

A recently posted article on Blind, a workplace community app, said that some of this year’s new recruits at Samsung Electronics Co. had sold their ‘recruitment gifts’ on Danggeun Market, a South Korea’s popular online secondhand marketplace.

The article said that they sold hard-cover notebooks for 10,000 won (US$6.97), recycled paper notebooks for 8,000 won and tumblers for 20,000 won.

The author of the post complained that this was too much, even if they didn’t need those gifts.

Others joined in the feed, criticizing the new recruits for getting rid of the presents immediately after they got them.

Few others, in contrast, defended the new employees’ actions, saying it was better to sell them to someone who would use them rather than not use them at all.
