SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Korea Bizwire) - Samsung Electronics Co., the world’s top smartphone vendor, released new teasers for its upcoming flagship smartphone on Tuesday, giving a detailed glimpse into the presumed Galaxy S7 for the first time.
Samsung’s previous invitation card for the showcase event slated for Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. (Spain time) in Barcelona, a day ahead the opening of the Mobile World Congress, had shown only a black box with a blue lining on the edge.
The new teasers, however, showed four aspects of the phone–security, design, water resistance and camera.
Samsung’s teasers showed the phrase “experience privacy at its finest,” which was followed by “meet the irresistible,” “worry-less discovery” and “bring light to the night,” along with a draft image of each feature.
Industry watchers also earlier expected that the presumed Galaxy S7 will include a pressure-sensitive display, similar to “3D Touch” promoted by Apple Inc., and allow users to insert micro secure digital memory cards to increase data capacity.
The new smartphone is expected to play a decisive role in revitalizing Samsung’s mobile business, which was dented by rising Chinese rivals and worsening profitability.
The company’s IT and mobile business, which is in charge of smartphones, posted an operating profit of 2.23 trillion won (US$1.83 billion) in the fourth quarter, up from 1.96 trillion won a year earlier. But the sector’s operating profit continued to remain well below the 6.43 trillion won posted in the first quarter of 2014.’
