SEOUL, May 13 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics received the Super-efficient Energy Award during the fifth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) held in Seoul on May 12.
Among the four sectors, Samsung ranked the first in three sectors including large, medium and future technology sectors and won the title of the “Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) International Winner.”
The “SEAD Global Efficiency Medal,” which was established during the first CEM meeting in which energy ministers of 16 countries including France, Germany and Korea gathered in April 2011, assesses products being sold in four regions of North America, Europe, Australia and India for their energy efficiency and gives awards to the products with the most energy-efficient ratings.
For winners in each sector, an emblem of “Global Efficiency Medal” was given for their various marketing activities related to the award.
Meanwhile, at the Lighting and Energy Access Partnership (LEAP) Off Grid Award which was held together with the SEAD award, Samsung’s 23-inch H4060 TV won the first-place prize. The Global LEAP Awards is an international competition to identify the world’s best low-voltage direct current (DC) off-grid appliances.
Samsung has offered various models which are fit for Africa’s distinctive environment like free satellite TVs and surge safe TVs and will keep its effort to supply TV models in the region without electricity.
