SEOUL, Apr. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday its advertisement showcasing refrigerators specially made for the Indian market went viral on the video-sharing platform YouTube, claiming the popularity reflects the company’s increasing presence in the growing Asian market.
The advertisement, which introduces the Digital Inverter Refrigerator, which can maintain temperature amid power failures, attracted a whopping 50 million views in around two weeks after being posted on YouTube, the company said.
The video centers on a daughter enjoying meals prepared by her mother during a power outage.
Samsung has been releasing refrigerators that can run on low power by making use of household uninterruptible power supply (UPS), as blackouts frequently occur in some areas of the country. The products were first introduced in 2010, and more models have been adopting the solution.
The company also sells ovens optimized to cook Indian foods, as well as solar-powered refrigerators, to meet various demands of different regions under the slogan “Make for India.”
Indian industry tracker TRA Research said earlier Samsung topped the list of most reputable companies in India this year. The company said India’s Economic Times also named Samsung as most trusted brand for the third consecutive year in 2018.
