SEOUL, April 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul’s Seocho District Office said Thursday it would appoint “mosquito sheriffs” to carry out anti-pest activities in areas usually excluded from city pest extermination initiatives.
The program, which began in 2017, will be led by “mosquito sheriffs” who are well-informed about local areas and communities, and who will walk around residential areas and parks with limited access to pest control vehicles to carry out anti-pest measures.
The district will appoint 120 sheriffs from four regions until April 19, and anyone above the age of 18 is eligible to apply.
The sheriffs will also work as social workers, visiting seniors living alone and people with disabilities, and conducting safety checks of playground equipment inside parks for children.
The program is scheduled to run until November.
