SEOUL, May 8 (Korea Bizwire) – To mark “Parents’ Day” on May 8, the Seoul City Government has introduced a way to self-check dementia using the Internet and a smartphone application.
Online check-up can be done through clicking “Online dementia check-up” under “Dementia counseling,” in the Seoul Metropolitan Center for Dementia website. The test consists of 15 questions, which ask how the patient’s capabilities shown in everyday life has changed in past 10 years.
Smartphone check-up can be conducted by downloading a dementia check app. The examinations are also administered in a local center for dementia, which is established in every district of Seoul.
Approximately 10 percent of total dementia patients can be healed completely when detected at an early stage and Alzheimer’s disease, from which as many as 70 percent of total dementia patients suffer, can be slowed down in its progress and improved in symptoms with treatments.
