SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to build a new Art Path that connects City Hall’s main gate and the sidewalk on the north side of the complex.
The Art Path connects Korean traditional design with modern architecture by reinterpreting the Cheoma style used in Korean traditional mansions to fit with City Hall’s architectural design.
The Art Path uses Dancheong, a traditional pattern drawn on walls, pillars, and ceilings of Korean traditional houses as a motif.
Polycarbonate, a translucent material, will then be used to create a modernistic harmony.
Light will pass through three-dimensional Dancheong patterns to decorate the path with a bright and warm ‘path of light’.
