SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Metropolitan Government published on Sunday a “Guide for Safe Travel in Seoul” with important safety tips for tourists.
The book, available in four languages (Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese), includes practical instructions to address various situations that change with the seasons and the surrounding environment of the city.
Each safety tip comes with an illustration for clarity. The book can be folded and easily carried at all times.
QR codes have been included to enable readers to access detailed information through applications or web browsers.
The guide book offers safety tips for various activities on the Han River, trekking across mountains and famous walkways, accommodations, and shopping to cover a range of ever increasing activities for the growing number of tourists coming individually.
The book also offers seasonal information on fine dust and heat waves as well as city-wide civil defense drills and other tips unique to the city.
For instance, the book advises tourists to wear a mask marked with KF certification during periods of severe fine dust, and informs them that Seoul occasionally conducts drills to address natural disasters, asking them to follow instructions when a siren is heard at 2 p.m.
Face masks are given “Korea Filter,” or KF, certification by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety if they are tested to effectively block microdust.
The guide book is available for free distribution at Incheon Airport and local tourist information centers. It is also available for download at on the Visit Seoul website (http://english.visitseoul.net/index).
