SEOUL, August 1 (Korea Bizwire) – For the first time since its opening, Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is launching a summer edition of its signature media art festival.
Titled Seoul Light DDP 2025 Summer, the event runs from July 31 through August 10 and transforms the historic site into an immersive playground of light, design, and technology.
Breaking away from its traditional winter schedule and the familiar 222-meter curved façade, this year’s edition expands to newly opened water spaces and the broader Dongdaemun History and Culture Park, inviting visitors into a more interactive and participatory art experience.

Under the theme Timescape: Patterns of Light, the festival explores the historical significance of Seoul’s Igansumun Waterway, blending past, present, and future through media facades, laser shows, responsive digital installations, and sculptural light works.
The event, organized by the Seoul Design Foundation, aims to offer a multisensory escape from the summer heat. Visitors can relax on benches, take selfies against illuminated exteriors, and engage with art in motion — from reactive lighting to digital storytelling projected onto architectural surfaces.
