SEOUL, Dec. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Kakao Corp., the operator of South Korea’s top mobile messenger KakaoTalk, said Monday that it released an emoticon (give-ticon) based on the motions of sign language, and the sales proceeds will be donated to activities related to hearing impaired people.
Give-ticons are a mobile sponsorship product in which Kakao donates a certain portion of the revenue from their sale.
After releasing its first gifticon in 2016, the tech giant has rolled out a total of 13 gifticons, with the cumulative number of purchasers estimated at more than 1.7 million
This year’s sign language give-ticon was created through collaboration with 16 emoticon designers and the artists behind HandSpeak, a cultural art planner for hearing impaired people.
Emoticon designers developed give-ticons based on the sign language videos taken by the artists from HandSpeak.
