SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Metro, the city-run operator of the subway system in Seoul, said Monday it will establish a communication system aimed at facilitating interactions between subway staff and foreigners through real-time translation.
The organization intends to choose a developer to design and implement an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered system and initiate a four-month trial starting in November.
In the upcoming year, this system is slated for deployment at key locations including Seoul Station, Itaewon Station, Gimpo International Airport Station, Gwanghwamun Station and Hongik University Station.
The system boasts compatibility with over 13 languages, encompassing English, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish among others.
Whenever a foreign individual converses with a subway employee in their native language, the system will immediately engage in seamless interpretation for the recipient.
