Seoul Teams Up With Big Business for Anti-smoking Campaign

SEOUL, Jun. 19 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government revealed yesterday plans to initiate an anti-smoking “at your doorstep” campaign in which health professionals will visit corporations with over 300 employees to help smokers kick the habit.

This would be the first time an anti-campaign is to be instigated at offices of business entities.

For a duration of six months, the anti-smoking campaign will be carried out on site at seven corporations including LG Science Park, MoonBae Steel, Ensecure and others.

The campaign will kick off with an information session followed by a diagnosis of the workplace surroundings.

In addition, a more conducive environment to quit smoking will be created and customized health services will be implemented as part of the program.

In order to ensure that smokers stay committed to quitting, funding will support various functions such as dinners, leaves and club activities.

The Seoul city government signed an MOU yesterday with the seven corporations scheduled to participate in the campaign.
